Music Tuition

MUSIC TUITION FROM SEPTEMBER 2010

Dear Parents

Pupils who will be in years three and four in September will have the opportunity to learn to play the flute for the whole of the academic year which will be funded by the school.

These pupils will also have the opportunity to learn the violin but there will be a charge for these additional sessions. Numbers will be limited as priority will be given to those pupils who will then be in years 5 and 6 who are currently having lessons. The lessons will be 20 minutes long and will take place weekly. A whole term of lessons will cost £26.00. Parents will need to commit for one term but all musical instruments will be loaned free of charge as part of this agreement for as long as they decide to take lessons.

For those pupils currently in years 4 and 5 who wish to continue, or take up music tuition in September, please complete the form below.

This is a great opportunity and we hope your child can take part. Places will be confirmed at the end of this term and payment will be due the first week back in September.

A reminder to all current year 6 pupils – please ensure you have your instrument in school by to be returned to County.

Please return to the school office by Monday 5th July.

My child ____________________________ currently in year ___________ would be interested in taking up violin / flute or continuing with violin / flute* lessons. I understand that these lessons will incur a fee or £26.00 per term for each instrument.
* Please delete as appropriate and indicate clearly which instrument you are selecting.

My child no longer wishes to continue with music tuition. I confirm I will return the instrument to school by Friday 9th July 2010.

Victorian Museum visit

Class 3 went to Stowmarket Museum of life to learn more about the Victorians. As part of the day we all dressed up as Victorian children, took Victorian names and then spent an hour in aVictorian classroom. The children loved it and even wanted to change their classroom and lessons into Victorian style ones!

Some people tried on the 'Dunce hat' and some people were told off for scruffy hair or wiping their nose on their sleeve!
It was a great day

Topic work

Puppets

In class 3 our topic is Puppets. We have been designing puppets, writing story endings and making our puppets. We watched Pinocchio to get an idea of the scenes and then we rewrote the story.
To make our puppets we had to plan out what kind of puppet it was going to be, what it was going to look like and what things we would need part of that was what colour it would be.
Our topic is sadly nearly over. We are very glad to do it and we thank Poppy for coming up with the idea.

Sikh afternoon

We set up the class as a Sikh Gudwhara and played out a typical visit of worship.
We covered our heads and took off our shoes. We learnt how they bow and how they sit males and females separately.
After the ceremony we had a sample of a sweet that the Sikh people often eat after worship. Nicole and a few children made the sweets.

Dance East came to Easton

Today Caroline Mummery came to school to teach class 3 'contact' and 'lifts'. The children had a great time learning how to lift each other in the correct way without injuring thier backs. They are hoping to use these new techniques in the summer play.

Decorating of Class 3

Class 3 has been beautifully decorated over the past few weeks and the children are thrilled to bits with the new colours. The colour scheme is much more refreshing and makes the room feel even bigger. New furniture has been purchased to finish the room off and make it the perfect learning environment.

EDF Energy Talk

On Thursday 16th October class 3 had a talk about EDF energy and all the dangers that electricity has. They also talked about what cables EDF energy use under the ground and on top of the electric poles. The two men brought in helmets for us to try on to show us how these are used to protect their heads.
We all thought this was a very interesting and educational talk.
