The football match

On Monday 13th October class 3 went for a football match. We played against Dennington. The whole team did a fantastic performance, we had an fantastic time even though we lost. Ben and Alex scored, Ben scored twice and Alex scored once. Everyone at the football match had a go, it was near the end when Thomas hurt his foot.
Even though we lost we all had a fantastic time.

EDF Energy Talk

On Thursday 16th October class 3 had a talk about EDF energy and all the dangers that electricity has. They also talked about what cables EDF energy use under the ground and on top of the electric poles. The two men brought in helmets for us to try on to show us how these are used to protect their heads.
We all thought this was a very interesting and educational talk.

Sewing Club

We have now been running our sewing club for three weeks and what a great success it has proved to be. The children have all had a choice of what they would like to do from a' Christmas stocking' to a 'place mat'. When ask what she liked about the club, Laura said "It's really good and I like making things". Hopefully this club will go from strength to strength.

Sponsored fun run

On October 10th we hope to hold our annual sponsored fun run. Watch this space to see how well the children got on!

Slippers

Class 3 have been busy making slippers for themselves or a relative this month. The pupils have used a variety of methods and materials to come up with some highly creative slippers. Careful consideration had to be given to comfort, safety and design when making the slippers. The children will be weraing them in school during the coming week.

Harvest time

Harvest time is upon us and this year we were able to take our first harvest from the school garden. We have gathered runner beans, tomatoes, chard, broad beans and also apples and blackberries from other places in the school grounds.

The garden now has fully working gutteridge and waterbutts and phase two of the development is about to get underway. We hope to as add another planting bed and places bark chipping in all the walkways as well as install efficient composting systems.

Residential trip

Last week all of class 3 went to the Peak Centre in Derbyshire. The whole week was amazing with every child in the class walking the hills and rock climbing. Here are some photographs of our fantastic week away.

These children are playing in the cascade fountain at Chatsworth house and in the second photograph they are standing at the top of Mam Tor.
