School garden

Latey we have had a school garden built inside our school grounds. Soon we shall be placing a wooden fence around it to make shore that unexspected wildlife and school children do not effect it. In the summer the children will be growing vegetables inside of are new plots.

Harvest time

Harvest time is upon us and this year we were able to take our first harvest from the school garden. We have gathered runner beans, tomatoes, chard, broad beans and also apples and blackberries from other places in the school grounds.

The garden now has fully working gutteridge and waterbutts and phase two of the development is about to get underway. We hope to as add another planting bed and places bark chipping in all the walkways as well as install efficient composting systems.

Garden July 2008

The garden has progressed hugely since it was started in April. We had hoped this year just to grow a few things to 'wet people's appetite' for gardening. It seems we were successful! Lots of landscaping and building work as well as planting has taken place and the garden is really taking shape.

The beginning

Class 1 and 2 have made a good start planting a variety of flowers and vegetables ready to put into the new raised beds. The children will be keeping watch over the new shoots and will have to take care of them so that they are at their best when replanting into the soil.
